What is Smartie AI?
Smartie AI is your SMSF technical assistant. Ask it a question in plain English and it answers from authored Smarter SMSF content and approved reference material — showing you the source documents behind every answer.
It sits inside a controlled Microsoft CoPilot Studio environment. It doesn't browse the open internet, and it doesn't invent answers: if it can't ground a response in approved source material, it escalates rather than guesses.

What you can do with it
- Ask a technical question — either in the global chat, or of one of six specialist agents
- Start from a curated prompt — 59 expert-written prompts in the Playbook, organised by agent and topic
- Draft client-ready text — emails, file notes and SoA extracts you copy into your own documents
- Reuse your work — every conversation is saved and searchable in Chat History
- Track usage — Ask Unit usage, activity log and CSV export in Settings
What Smartie is not
Smartie is a technical support tool, designed to enhance professional judgement rather than replace it. It does not provide licensed financial advice, and every answer carries a reminder to verify against current legislation.
Practically, that means three things:
- Answers are a well-informed starting point for your analysis, not a conclusion
- You should check the cited sources and confirm the law is current
- Anything you export into a file note, SoA or client email becomes your work product, and your professional obligations apply to it in full
The six specialist agents
Smartie's knowledge is split across six domains, known as the Smartie Squad:
- Contributions — caps, bring-forward, downsizer, work test, excess remediation
- Pensions & Benefit Payments — commencement, transfer balance cap, death benefits, TRIS
- Investment Rules — sole purpose test, in-house assets, LRBAs, NALI/NALE
- Trusteeship & Membership — trustee structure, disqualified persons, deeds, ATO audits
- Estate Planning — BDBNs, reversionary pensions, death benefit tax, wind-up
- Fund Taxation — ECPI, CGT, NALI mechanics, TBAR, Division 296
