RA Step 2: Inviting Principals for KYC Verification (and How KYB Follows)
Once a Reliance Membership application has been submitted and approved, the next stage is identity verification. Every director and beneficial owner listed on the application must complete their own individual verification (KYC) before the firm's business verification (KYB) can be finalised. This article walks through how to send those invitations and what happens afterwards.
Why this order matters
VerifiMe links a business entity's verification to the people behind it. Because of this, each principal needs a personal VerifiMe wallet with completed identity checks before the firm itself can be verified as a business. Trying to verify the business first isn't possible — KYB is always the second half of the process, not the first.
Sending a KYC invitation
From the Reliance Dashboard, locate the Principal KYC Verification section. Each person listed here (for example, an authorised signatory or compliance officer) has their own Invite button and a status indicator showing whether their verification is Pending, In Progress, or Complete.

Clicking Invite opens a dialog containing:
- A unique, personal sign-up link to VerifiMe (e.g.
portal.verifime.com/sign-up/code/...), which can be copied into your web browser, or sent to additional parties required to complete the KYC process. - A Show QR code option, useful if the principal will complete verification on their phone. The QR code can also be downloaded as an image.
- A link to VerifiMe's onboarding help guide, for anyone unfamiliar with the wallet setup process.
If you want to complete via a mobile device, scan the QR code on your phone to start the VerifiMe process.

What the invited principal experiences
Once a principal opens their invitation link, they'll be guided through VerifiMe's standard personal verification steps: confirming their email, entering personal details, uploading an identity document, and completing a biometric selfie check. This can be done entirely on their own device and doesn't require further input from the firm at this stage.

How KYB verification follows
After a principal has completed their own KYC, they (or another authorised person) can add the business entity to their VerifiMe wallet. This is where KYB happens: the wallet holder enters the entity's details — legal name, ABN/ACN, and supporting registration documents — and identifies other associated individuals such as co-directors or beneficial owners.
Depending on the verification pathway configured for your firm, KYB may be completed as a self-serve step inside the wallet, or via VerifiMe's assisted pathway, where invitations are tracked and the completed list of verified individuals is confirmed with VerifiMe support before the entity is finalised. Either way, KYB cannot begin until at least the relevant individual's KYC has been completed.

Tracking progress
Back on the Reliance Dashboard, the status badges next to each principal (Pending / In Progress / Verified) update as they move through the process. The KYB Verification card for the firm will remain inactive until the required personal KYC checks are done. Once both KYC and KYB are complete, the dashboard will move on to preparing the Reliance Agreement, and membership activation follows once that's executed.
