Release Notes - September 2024
The following is a summary of what the team have been working on recently at Smarter SMSF - these release notes cover the Smarter platform, documents, and education.
1.1 - Death Benefit Income Stream
This is a new form that allows you to create a pension for a beneficiary from a super death benefit (not for reversionary pensions). This is only available on the new document platform (beta) - Documents > Create New > Death Benefit Income Stream.

1.2 - Add a Fund Member
This is a new form and allows you to add a new fund member, including where the member is a child or under a legal disability (EPA appointed). This is only available on the new document platform (beta) - Documents > Create New > Add a Fund Member.
We have commenced work on the 'Removal of a Fund Member' document and once completed we will decommission the existing 'add and remove member' form.

1.3 - QROPS trust deed updates
We have now completed the updates within the deed of variation form on the new document platform (beta) to allow for a fund to upgrade an existing QROPS deed or upgrade to the QROPS deed. You can view the article and sample document from the link below:

1.4 - Decommissioning of old forms
Please note that during September 2024 we will be decommissioning a number of existing documents on the current platform (app.smartersmsf.com) as part of the migration to the new Docs 2.0 platform - this includes (but not limited to):
- SMSF establishment
- Company incorporations (incl. special purpose)
- Trust Deed Upgrade
- SMSF Change of Trustee
- Pension Commencement
- Pension Rollback
- Annual Pension Review
- SMSF Investment Strategy
Please note that we will be placing an auto redirection on these forms within the current platform for you to complete the order via the new document platform.
1.5 - List of next documents being added to new documents platform (beta)
The following documents are the next list of forms being migrated across to the new document platform:
- LRBA loan facility agreement
- Partial commutation
- Lump Sum
- Death Benefit Nomination
- Change of company constitution
- Investment Strategy Review Statement
- TRIS to retirement phase
- IHA loan agreement
- Minimum pension shortfall
- Lost Trust Deed
2.1 - Admin Console
An update has been made to allow 'parent users' to download all documents from a company incorporation order - see sections 10 - 14 within knowledge base article:

2.2 - API - POST docs to Class
We have recently added within the 'actions' tab on the completed orders page the ability to send documents into Class via the API (new document platform only).

2.3 - New App switcher
We are adding an app switcher onto each platform to enable you to seamlessly (via single sign on) move between the Smarter SMSF platforms with documents, CPD, knowledge base, admin console and more.
This has recently been deployed onto the new document platform and will be added across the other platforms throughout September / early October 2024.
2.4 - Smarter SMSF API access
We are currently working with a couple of clients about utilising the Smarter SMSF API endpoints with external order forms to create both company incorporations and new SMSF orders. This process will save time when setting up new SMSFs by not having to re-enter information into the platform from online forms you may have to capture this data with your clients.

2.5 - CSV import update
We are working through feedback from clients to further improve the functionality of our CSV import, allowing you to export data from various external software to capture client information and using this to import for various order forms on the Smarter SMSF platform. Importantly, you can create CSV import templates saving you time across various document orders. More information about the CSV import will be provided in the October 2024 release notes.
2.6 - Coming soon: Client List
We are excited to be shortly launching a new feature within the document platform to manage your SMSF clients - a 'fund centric' approach to ordering, using key integrations with your SMSF software. We are shortly moving to a closed beta with this platform feature for a select number of members
3.1 - SMSF pensions masterclass
The recordings from this recent masterclass event have now been added into the learning platform for members to complete. Please note for CPD to be awarded, you must also successfully complete the CPD assessment - a CPD certificate will automatically generate on the platform once the course has been completed.

3.2 - Smarter SMSF courses
Changes are currently underway across the SMSF foundations course and SMSF essentials course. More details about these updates will be provided in the October 2024 release notes and our upcoming webinar on 25 September 2024.
